Sonja Deadly Doll is a multidisciplinary artist, alternative model, and educator based in Alicante, Spain. She holds a degree in Fine Arts, and she is working professionally as an art and languages teacher.
Artistic Influences and Identity – Sonja’s aesthetic is deeply rooted in her Fine Arts education, her travels across Europe, and a strong connection to Germany – inspired by her grandfather’s five years living in Stuttgart, as well as the German gothic music scene, bands, concerts, and festivals. Her visual identity is characterized by very long hair, pale and delicate features, and a doll-like quality that has drawn frequent comparisons to Pre-Raphaelite paintings and Rapunzel. Her artistic nickname, “Deadlydoll”, reflects both her stature and her extensive personal collection of dark, mysterious dolls and plush toys.
Experience and Professional Collaborations – Beginning her career through TDF (Trade for Portfolio) exchanges and working with Hawk Image and Design, Sonja has collaborated extensively with prominent alternative and gothic clothing brands such as Punkrave Store, The Gothic Shop, and Dark in Love, alongside independent handmade artists like Plamendura Аrt, Luciferothica, Raven Ranch, and Cosucos. Her work and modeling have been featured in various digital magazines and publications, including Darker Side of Music, Entretanto Magazine, Laura Mequinenza magazine workshop, and V.K.N.G Jewelry.
Philosophy and Message – Sonja’s creative work explores the delicate contrasts between darkness and beauty, innocence and the macabre, often evoking dark fairy tales or dreamlike paintings inspired by 19th-century gothic, dark fantasy, and horror-romantic literature.
Her overarching message to her followers is: “Never be afraid of being different. Sometimes the things that make you feel like an outsider are precisely the things that make you unique. Protect your imagination! Growing up does not mean that we have to leave behind the worlds, characters, and dreams that made us happy as children.”
